NEED:
F.A.C.E Academy Graduation Show - the annual show featuring collections from young and rising designers that have just completed their study at the school. These young designers, with their distinctive methodology of design on the same stage competing but complimenting others, it hard to solve the problem. How to make the stage that divides the audience focus equally between collections, that not only showing the final design themselves but also the thinking behind the works?
RESPONSE:
The very first concept of the stage, we wanted to design the stage with multiple booths and each one belong to a designer. The designer and assistants are onstage, dressing the models right there to give the audience the feeling of activeness, the feeling of energy floating while seeing the designer working. Seats are placed at multiple angles that are designed to let the audience see as much as possible, 360 around them. But due to the change of the venue at the end of the preparation phase, sadly we cannot keep working on the previous concept but we have to change the direction to the new one. To handle to have the show on time, which is only nearly 2 weeks, we change the stage design into a very simple one, nearly no decoration but only the runway themselves. This approach is a step back in comparison with the previous one, but the good point is, using the all-white stage with strategic lighting make the place looks way bigger than it really is and the environment there is conveyed the feelings of laboratories which made the audience watching the show with a very different perspective.
